So I went with my neighbor to her daughter’s riding lesson yesterday to take some pictures for a class, and ended  up rekindling my interest in horses.

I had forgotten how majestically beautiful they are.

Rosie, the horse Burkley rides, was so calm and patient while we brushed and petted her soft coat.

It was honestly quite therapeutic for me… 🙂

Here are some pictures I took of the afternoon’s adventure —

I’m planning a riding lesson of my own in the near future.. Can’t wait!

Merry Christmas?

I know, I know… I haven’t posted in forever…..

I’ve been super busy with school and the holidays, but the semester is wrapping up and I’m ready for the break!!!

There’s just one thing that is keeping me from becoming Buddy the elf…  the temperature.

Where are my cold temperatures?!? The ones that actually make it feel like the holiday season!? The ones that call for layer upon layer of cozy clothing, with fuzzy socks and warm gloves and scarves!?!

I can still wear sandals and it is the end of November. That’s just sad.

I guess there’s still time; it snowed my freshman year in February…

But by that time I’m over it. (I am a girl of little patience..)

So as of right now, all I want for Christmas is some cold weather.

I can almost guarantee you that will change, but right now I just want to drink some hot chocolate and cozy up in a bundle of blankets to a Christmas movie. That’s not too much to ask, right?

We took some pictures Sunday for our travel magazine, Alpine Living, and it looks like they could’ve been taken in September..

And since it got a little cooler after the sun went down, we ended the shoot with one of the best chai lattes I’ve ever had at Chloe’s Cup.

Not exactly a replacement for snow, but i’ll take it.. 🙂

Tech Candy

A few weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to model for the Hipster Collection of Tech Candy iPhone cases.

These. cases. are. AMAZING.

It’s a 3 in 1 because you get two colors in the soft inner, and the hard case with the trendy design.

I have the metallic Amsterdam case with the two gorgeous rose color inners. I LOVE IT.

I’m also a big fan of the Effervescent  and the Barcelona case sets.

Not only are these cases nice to look at, they really do protect your phone. I’ve dropped mine twice since I got the case, and both the case and phone are still as good as gold. 🙂

Go check ’em out!!

Until next post,

Clarke County

Have you ever seen Big Fish?

I’m pretty sure that movie was based on this place.

I visited Grove Hill, Jackson and Coffeeville this weekend, and I have to say if it weren’t for the horrible cellphone reception I’d consider living out away from the city.

I learned so much about my family’s history and the way things used to be. I even learned more about Alabama’s history.

For instance, have you heard about the quilts they make at Gee’s Bend? They are INCREDIBLE. I didn’t get a chance to go there since you have to take a ferry, but I will definitely make it over there one day.

Anyway, I took a few pictures at my relative’s house/land in Coffeeville. It’s about 20 miles away from civilization… But it is so peaceful.

This house reminded me so much of Dorothy’s house on The Wizard of Oz

We stopped by a cemetery and looked at some old headstones in the spirit of Halloween! This one was my favorite:

There was a corn field with a female scarecrow in front of it..

And the corn field was covered with these beautiful monarch butterflies!! It. was. Amazing!!!

I just loved the slow-life feel of this place.

Everybody knows everybody, and you wave at everyone who passes by while you’re sitting on your front porch swing. I was just waiting for Andy and Opie to walk by whistling and carrying their cane poles.

If I ever get tired of all of the traffic and chaos of the city life, you know where I’ll be.

Until next post,

Go for Baroque

I have to admit, I wasn’t too fond of this trend at first…

It seemed a little cheesy to me with all of the appliqués and super bold, in-your-face prints, but the more I see it, the more I like it.

Here are a few pieces that I’ve fallen for–

This baroque printed jean from ASOS is nice and subtle for everyday wear.

Gorgeous Vera Moda dress from ASOS with the classic sequin baroque look. Great for a night out! (I think it would look stunning paired with colored tights)

These metallic leggings from Boohoo can easily go from day to night

Loving this Lipsy tank with appliqués and beading

And last, but not least–

This Lipsy peplum top has to be my favorite of them all!! I’m such a sucker for peplum…

Until next post,

I’ve been a fan of Urban Decay for a while now.

I just love the versatility of the Naked eyeshadow palette. I never got my hands on the Naked II, but I found something I think I might like more…

Urban Decay’s new smokey eye palette is sooooo amazing!!!

I’ve never had the courage to try the dark smokey eye, which is why I stuck to the Naked palette for so long, but these jewel-tone colors are too fabulous to pass up.

I’m really lovin’ the metallics on the bottom row

I used Mushroom on the inside of the lid and Asphalt with a little bit of Evidence for the outer corners.

Loaded has to be my favorite color in the palette… I have a feeling I’ll be using it a lot this fall/winter.

Until next post,

Game Day

It’s the first home game of the season, and I won’t be there… again.

Last year I was working during most of the games, so I wasn’t able to make that first home game, either.

I’m SUCH a terrible student/fan.

I still can’t believe I only have one year left after this one!! I really need to step up my game in actually going to the games (especially since the student tickets are super cheap).

Well, at least I’ve made some good memories. Here are a few pictures from freshman year (has it really been two years?!)–

Man, I love that red dress (Urban Outfitters)…

Hope you have a great weekend & Roll Tide!!

Oh, The Possibilities…

Yesterday was not my day.

I had an 8 am class, sat through my 2 and a half hour class, looked like poo since I had planned on not being on the news, was asked to be on the news, was rear-ended while driving home…

BUT right before my bumper was demolished, I found a cute little sleeveless blouse while browsing through tjmaxx– and that was the one good thing that happened all day.

I’m a pretty optimistic person, so I tried to take my mind off the bad/focus on the good, and accessorize this treasure I found.

I used some creativity & reference to trends I’d seen recently, and found a few ways to make this plain blouse a statement..

( House of Harlow inspired necklace- Etsy, Ribbon bow- my scrap material box, Bow tie- Etsy, Leather pants- ASOS )

Hope it provokes a little inspiration!

Until next post,

Awaiting Autumn

What an almost perfect weekend.

I spent labor day weekend with family, friends, food, fun, sun…. and loads of humidity. I shouldn’t complain since it was predicted to rain the entire weekend, but it was like a sauna!!

Okay, to the important part.

I have been a little obsessed with Butter London nail polish this summer. I’ve worn Trout Pout (coral) and Bossy Boots like nobody’s business. GREAT colors for spring and summer.

Despite the weather, everything is becoming more fall-ish with school and football season starting, so I thought it was time to find a new fall-favorite nail color..

And I found it. Saucy Jack.

I know you may be thinking it’s just another red nail polish, but it is much, much more.. It’s a red nail polish that is good for your nails!! They are ‘ 3 free’, which means they do not contain Formaldehyde, Toluene, or DBP. Now I’m no scientist, but those things don’t sound good, so I feel like I’m giving my nails a little breather from the harsh polish I’ve used in the past.

But all health reasons aside, the color is pretty phenomenal.

Here are a few pics from this weekend of me sporting the lovely color–

Wishing you the best on finding that perfect nail color for the cooler weather hopefully  coming our way!

Until next post,
